Music has given us some legendary partnerships. Lost souls who have finally connected with the other person that makes their music make sense.

And so it is with Smoove & Turrell. Smoove the funk-king, a beatsmith in search of the perfect singer to add the magic ingredient to his tunes. Turrell a blue eyed soul boy and working class geordie dedicated to his family and the music inside of him

Together they are making some of the funkiest tunes to come out of Britain since the 70’s. This cover of Yazoo’s Don’t Go is no exception as it showcases the quality of Smoove & Turrell’s creativity. Upbeat beat and gritty, almost inferring an equal greatness to the original, this 7” will find a home in most vinyl junkies’ prized collection.

On the flip is the JB-fluenced “Hammond”, rolling out that vintage Hammond organ sound over some sweet soulified beats and Turrell’s urgent vocal. Both tracks can be found on Smoove & Turrell’s debut album ‘Antique soul’.

Smoove & Turrell burst onto the UK music scene in 09 with their single I Can’t Give You Up ( a track which in it’s previous incarnation as a limited german 7“ was changing hands for over £150 on ebay – a serious prize for the northern soul heads). They have been picked up by Radio 2, Radio 4 and 6Music in the UK both of which have booked the boys in for a live session.
